Laila Fails.....

Laila fails to  repeat the magic  of Run baby Run  in kerala box office.The chemistry between  Mohanlal and Amala Paul which was the highlight of RBR is lacking heavly in joshiy's new venture,Laila O Laila.Film opened to above average occupancy in more than 100 screens all across kerala registered housefull shows during morning.But due to bad wom film couldnt  sustain the  initial pull, still collected around 1.1cr in the opening day,one again proving that mohanlal is the king of opening.Made on a budget of 13cr film collected around 3.2cr in 7 days which indicates that film will be a huge loss for the maker.

  Lal jose once again come up with  a new face ,Deepthi sathi, in his new film Neena.Really surprised by the makers decision to release the film in limited centers,around 40 in kerala. Responce from the audience was encouraging which might have given the makers enough courage to release in others centers in second week.Film collected around 1.35cr in 7 days.

Sir cp  is nothing bt  a film for continuing jayaram's flop parade  in box office.Poor  releasing strategy and marketing affected the film eventhough film gained average reviews.

Second class yathra as the name indicates boxoffice journey is also in  second class mode.Film got better initial  bt with new releaseas  collection dropped,collected around 4.35cr in 14days.

Chandrettan evideya, inspite of new releases remain to be the families'  first choice.But film fails to achieve what  a dileep movie used to get in boxoffice during holidays.Film is getting  decent occupancy in weekends,collected around 6.8cr in 21 days.

Bhasker the Rascal provides the megastar mammooty a blockbuster after pokkiriraja which happened in 2010.Film achieved the milestorn of  10000shows still  continuing with around 110 shows in 6th week,most likely to get 12k shows in final run.collected around 16cr is just behind vadakkan selfie in terms of collection  among this year releases.

With the release of Neena from the same distributors vadakkan selfie lost most of the centers ,collected around 18cr .

Raining Releases in Midsummer

Midsummer is considered the most active season in malayalam film industry.Out of four

films released last week  except chandrettan all others  bombed at the boxoffice.

    Dileep  once  again proved that he is the favourite for family audience  in mollywood.If the initial reports are to be believed dileep will have a hit on his card. Chandrettan Evideya released with above average reports  is getting good responce and family audience have started to trickling in.Total gross from  3 days is believed to be  around 1.85cr.

   Chirakodinja Kinavukal is an experimental spoof film,first of that kind in mollywood.

Kunjacko Boban tried his luck with humour  this time could able to impress the audience for some extent.But initial collection is not that impressive figuring around 1.02cr in 3 days.Lack of publicity and inability of normal viewers to grasp the theme is affecting the film by big means.

 She taxi  is a clear flop in box office.Film  directed by saji surendran,who had better market among family audience, was considered to be the comeback film for kavya madhavan.Film faced many removals within 3 days of release.

   Inspite of raining releases Bhasker The Rascal rules the kerala boxoffice .Lack of impressive shows of new releases gives added advantage .Bhasker's dream run continues crossing 6500 shows and collected around 12.76 cr in 20 days from kerala alone.Film is getting impressive run in most of the centers even in  its third week.It is still running with around 270 shows and expected to attain blockbuster status as there is no major release till mid of may.

   Vadakkan Selfie first blockbuster of the year faced  some removals due to new releases.With around 160 shows this week, film already crossed 16cr and attained blockbuster status.

Ennum Eppozhum still running  but showcount has reduced to around 30 making it impossible to cross 9k.Film run at boxoffice once again proved that sathyan anthikad is a minimum gaurantee director, managed to reach a gross of 10.06cr and is a hit in kerala.

           Mollywood will witness 3 major malayalam  releases   along with  kamalhassan's    uthamavillain on may 1

   Janapriyanayakan's   chandrettan evideya  is set to release in more than 70 center all across  kerala.Directed  by sidharth bharathan  under  the banner of hand made films.Namitha pramod and anusree is staring opposite to dileep.Film is crucial in dileep's carrier as he is now going through a lean patch in terms of boxoffice status

   After how old are you, another movie revolving around a female charector   sheduled to be released  is she taxi.Kavya madhavan is playing the central role supported by anoop menon.Film is directed by saji surendran under the banner abaam movies.The trailor and video songs looks promising.

    Debutant santosh vishwanath  is coming with charector ambujakshan and his novel in azhagiya ravanan which was released 17 years ago.Rima kallingal teams up with kunchako boban for this comedy flick titled as chirakodinja kinavukal.Sreenivasan is again doing the role of ambujakshan.Film is produced by listin stephen under magical frames.

    Ulaganayakan kamal hassan is teaming up with ramesh aravind for his new movie uthamavillain. Movie is expected to release in kerala on may 1 by sree kaleeswari films which guarantes huge release.Interesting feature about the movie is that story,screenplay as well as dialogues are written by kamal hassan himself.Film is produced by lingusamy under his own production house thirupathi brothers.

It will be interesting to watch how this four releases will affect  the movies running in kerala boxoffice

       Really happy to see that malayalam film industry is back in track after the dry  first quarter of 2015.Only 3 malayalam films released before vishu season could able to get even what the producer invested.But vishu releases changed this crisis by providing 3 hits in a season

       Oru vadakkan selfie leading the race with collecting 14.5cr gross in 28 days.Collection is super  considering the competion it faced  from big m's and what the vishu releases collected last year.Film opened huge collecting around 6cr in the first week itself and is able to sustain the collection in the second week also even after the release of janaprinayakan's maryadharaman. But collection dropped little bit after the release of bhasker.Even in the fifth week film is getting average occupancy in most of the centers.

      Ennum  eppozhum united  much awaited combo lal-manju after a long time, thanks to sathyan anthikad,and some how  impressed the audience  with the movie.Movie got a decent opening in all the centers with average occupancy of  60-80% followed by a strong weekend with housefull shows all over.With tight competion from selfie it is able to collect aroun 4cr in the first week and able to maintain the collection in the second week as well.With the release of bhasker which was followed by ok kanmani collection dropped  but still managed to collect around 10cr from 28 days.

     Bhasker the rascal  came as a normal family movie with some entertaining elements but turned out to be a rascal at kerala boxoffice.Film released with average to below average reports but that didnt affect its boxoffice status. With the advantage of release on a vishu day movie was able to collect around  1.4cr in the opening day itself highest opening for a movie this year.Extend weekend helped the movie to enjoy housefull shows even in small centers and collect around 5.3cr in 5 days which is unbelievable considering the megastar's current boxoffice power.Movie earned  around 9.2cr in 12 days.

     Ok kanmani which was released in around 60 centers lived upto the expectation among youth.The film showed above average occupancy in multies and major cities collected around 2.25cr in 7 days

    Ivan maryadharaman released  before easter vanished without giving any traces.Only disaster movie among the vishu releases this year
